Why Bhubaneswar? Because it’s the Lifeline of Odisha
Odisha Government giving special attention to Bhubaneswar in Covid Management, has upset some people, including a few “influential” personalities in social media, who try to find fault with the state government always while turning a blind eye to the Centre’s misdeeds.
They are the people who seek attention using their skills, but show their true colours too often. Since they have already mortgaged their conscience, we can do nothing here. But, we can certainly discuss “Why Bhubaneswar”.
Bhubaneswar is a Cosmopolitan City with people from various parts of the State and across the Nation making it their ‘Karma Bhoomi’. If the Government gives special attention to the Capital City, questions are raised. But, the same people who criticise, forget the fact that they are not the original inhabitants of Bhubaneswar, but came from different parts of the state.
Bhubaneswar is not just a region. It’s neither a district nor belong to any particular group. Bhubaneswar embraces all whether politicians from different parts of state, working employees who come from all over the state or students or aspirants. Like Delhi and Mumbai, Bhubaneswar is important for Odisha. The question of regionalism does not arise here.
Do we remember the Super Cyclone of 1999? Odisha failed as Bhubaneswar collapsed. The system and administration as well as communication system are located in Bhubaneswar. We can’t ignore the fact while boasting about regional divide. Even during Cyclone Fani, the entire Coastal belt took longer than expected to recover as Bhubaneswar was badly affected.
Coming to Coronavirus menace, everyday, Bhubaneswar is reporting 900-1100 Covid cases, way ahead of other cities in the State. Situation in Bhubaneswar is not improving despite all strong measures. If special attention is being given to improve the situation here so that the system remains safe and intact, there is nothing wrong. And, those who are getting benefitted belong to entire Odisha.
Most patients seek to get better treatment in Bhubaneswar. Bhubaneswar does not discriminate. It embraces all whether it’s treatment, education or job. Let’s admit that the healthcare system across the country is in shambles. We need drastic improvement and it will take some time to develop a robust system. The system (if it has a right intent) needs cooperation, not unnecessary criticism.
Let’s not ignore another fact that the government is doing its best to ensure proper healthcare to all parts of Odisha without any discrimination. But, things are prioritised depending upon the situation. Whether SOP on Oxygen Supply, setting up of RT-PCR testing labs across Odisha or coming up with more Covid hospitals and beds with oxygen and ventillators, Odisha Government is doing its best and leaves no stones unturned.
Yes, Bhubaneswar is our lifeline. We need to secure the system here. If Bhubaneswar stays safe and strong, the entire Odisha will be taken care of. That’s the message we should understand and acknowledge.
